Oundle Charity Volunteer
Volunteer Action
Who we are
Volunteer Action are a community minded charity that supports volunteers to improve the lives of local people in need. We provide a Community Car Scheme and Befriending Service to our members who reside within East Northants North (from Easton-on-the-Hill in the north to Thrapston in the south, Brigstock in the West to Lutton in the East). We provide our services to around 50 parishes and our offices are based in the market town of Oundle.
What we do
We support people in the community aged 65+ and those who are registered disabled with mobility issues to maintain their independence to lead a healthy life, with dignity, for as long as possible. Our volunteers drive members to appointments to maintain their health and wellbeing, from Hospitals to Hairdressers and much more, whilst providing companionship on the journey. Passenger journeys are subsidised by the charity to help tackle poverty and provide a fairly priced service regardless of how rurally they live within the county. The volunteers within our Befriending team provide a range of friendship options that include face-to-face, telephone and group meet ups. All of which offer companionship and an understanding ear, to help combat and reduce rural isolation and connect communities.
Volunteer Action is looking for new Trustees
Your contribution
The Trustees, acting together at a meeting, provide the high-level management, guidance and oversight of Volunteer Action. We welcome diversity of knowledge within the community, so that we may have a range of skills and expertise to learn from. We are particularly interested in applications from individuals with some of the following experience:
• Fundraising / Marketing
• Legal
Trustees are appointed for a three year term, renewable up to twice more.
The position is unpaid; however, all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
Our Trustees are expected to attend 6 meetings each year and participate in annual events to recognise the contribution our volunteers and supporters make towards the service. Most do more than this, helping with specific projects which make the most of their skill sets. If you can volunteer 5 -10 hours per month, you can make a difference.
If you are interested in becoming a Trustee for Volunteer Action, please contact our manager, Rachel Dixon on 01832 275433 or [email protected] and she will put you in touch with the Chair of the trustees for further discussions.
